🌿 Aromatherapy & Sensory Needs

Gentle support for sensitive nervous systems

Young people and adults with sensory sensitivities often experience the world more intensely — from noise and lighting to touch, smells, and emotional environments. Aromatherapy can provide gentle, predictable support when introduced in a way that respects personal sensory preferences and boundaries.

Choosing the Right Format for Sensory Needs

💧 Dropper Oils — Best for high sensitivity

✔ Controlled, intentional application ✔ Can be diluted for a gentler aroma ✔ Avoids unexpected skin contact

Ideal for: • Touch-sensitive individuals • Those who prefer full control over application • Gradual sensory introduction

🌬 Diffusion — Best for low-demand support

✔ No touch required ✔ Creates a consistent, predictable environment ✔ Supports regulation without direct interaction

Ideal for: • Autism & sensory processing differences • Workspaces or study environments • Evening wind-down routines

🧴 Balms — Best for grounding & reassurance

✔ Combined with soothing touch ✔ Supports grounding through tactile input ✔ Familiar, comforting texture

Ideal for: • Anxiety and overwhelm • Self-soothing routines • Sleep preparation

🟢 Rollerballs — Best for routine & independence

✔ Encourages self-regulation skills ✔ Predictable application ✔ Builds calming rituals

Ideal for: • Daily stress management • Workplace or travel use • Transitions and busy environments

🌼 Tips for Introducing Aromatherapy with Sensory Sensitivities

• Start with very small amounts • Choose scents that feel safe and familiar • Introduce during calm moments, not overwhelm • Maintain predictable routines
